Request for Proposals
Center for Engaged Teaching and Learning (CETL) 2017-2018 Faculty Fellowships
Proposal Application DUE: April 24, 2017
In this announcement, UC Merced invites ladder-rank faculty, lecturers with security of employment (LSOEs), lecturers with the potential for security of employment (LPSOEs), and Unit 18 lecturers to submit proposals as Principal Investigators (PIs) for projects that will have an observable impact on UC Merced undergraduate student success / student learning. These fellowships will run from June 2017 to May 2018.
Funding Opportunities in CETL Faculty Fellowships RFP
Proposals selected for funding may include, but are not limited to: a) pedagogical enhancements to existing courses; b) developing a new course; c) revising an existing course; d) creating a program that will sustainably impact undergraduate student learning; e) assessing and/or revising an existing program.
A preliminary project summary (less than five pages), project timeline (beginning in Summer 2017), and elementary budget will be submitted with the initial proposal. As part of the approval process, a detailed budget will be required. Funding amounts for CETL faculty fellowships will vary based on several factors, including whether the course is an entirely new development or the conversion of an existing course, the complexity of the proposed project, and/or the amount of CETL expertise needed in the proposed fellowship. For this CETL faculty fellowship RFP, the maximum award is $15K. If a proposal is selected for funding, proposal timelines, outcomes and budgets will be refined in consultation with AVP Zimmerman.
Proposals can be submitted by the following UC Merced academic appointees as the Principal Investigator (PI): UC Merced ladder-rank faculty members, LSOEs and LPSOEs, Unit 18 continuing lecturers, and should include all collaborating Co-PIs. PIs may submit as an individual or a team, a department chair, or a department’s undergraduate curriculum chair. Proposals representing a collaboration among PIs and departments and intended to serve students in multiple departments are strongly encouraged and will be given special consideration. Proposals that include funds used for course releases will only be approved if they include letters of support from the appropriate unit leadership.
